A Greeneville woman was arrested Thursday night with charges including child abuse and neglect, driving under the influence, and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
The Greeneville Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at the East Andrew Johnson and Kingsport Highway intersection. They came in contact with the driver, Amber Carter, who reportedly smelled of alcohol. According to the report, Carter had slurred speech and performed poorly on sobriety tests.
During a search, officers reportedly found 10 grams of Marijuana in her pocket. Other items including a pipe, grinder, and two empty alcoholic beverage bottles were located in the vehicle. There was also no insurance.
During her arrest, Carter was asked if any children would be left unattended. Carter stated she left her 10-year-old son at home when she went to a Bar and Grill. Officers went to the residence and waited for the Department of Children Services to arrive. Carter was transported to the hospital for a blood draw and then taken to the Greene County Detention Center.
