A Wind Advisory is still in effect for southeast Greene County until 11 AM this morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Morristown, east to southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are possible in the foothills and higher elevations. Gusty winds will continue into the weekend due to the remnants of Hurricane Francine.
The wind could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down with a few power outages as a result. Use caution when driving as winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Information from the National Weather Service in Morristown as of 3 AM this morning:
Quite warm today due to continued downslope flow off the Appalachians and into the valley.
“The remnants of Hurricane Francine will meander eastward into northern Mississippi over the next 24 hours. Resulting southeasterly flow on the eastern periphery of this system will continue to pull moisture northward across our forecast area, producing scattered showers through the period. Overall, it`s not a particularly worrisome forecast, but I would point out that there is a non-zero tornado
threat for our extreme southern plateau and southwestern TN valley areas this afternoon.”
