A ribbon cutting will be held on Saturday, September 14th at 10 AM for the Grand Re-Opening of the Coach J. J. Jones Memorial Park at 312 Floral Street in Greeneville.
The Greeneville Parks & Recreation, the George Clem Multicultural Alliance, and the Town of Greeneville will be revealing a new playground, swings, repaved courts, and new basketball goals and fencing. The upgrades offer a fresh new look and provide a safe and fun place for the community. Free pizza and drinks will be available for camp attendees. Basketballs will be on hand at the park, but participants can bring their own ball.
According to a press release, there will be a Free Basketball Camp after the ceremony. It’s hosted by the Greeneville Police Department, Coach Damon Johnson, and friends. Coach Johnson is from Johnson City and played professional basketball in Iceland and Spain. He has coached for King University, East Tennessee State’s women’s team, and most recently, Providence Academy.
Speakers at the ribbon cutting ceremony include Mayor Cal Doty, City Manager Todd Smith, Parks & Recreation board member Don Hamilton, and Bill Edmonds, representing the George Clem Multicultural Alliance.
