A Greeneville woman was charged with reckless driving at an accident scene on Monday night.
According to a report from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, officers were working a wreck with injuries at the intersection of Asheville Highway and Greenfield Street around 10:00 PM. There were several emergency vehicles on the shoulder and in the roadway. A Tennessee Highway Patrol officer was talking with a person involved with the wreck. Several firefighters were in the roadway working the scene as well.
Sherry Leake of River Trace Lane then drove up onto the scene after being guided by a firefighter. She allegedly accelerated too fast on the restricted roadway. According to the report, she would have hit officers if they did not move and she came extremely close to hitting other personnel on the scene.
Leake was charged with reckless driving.
