The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was searching for two men who left the scene of an accident on Sunday near Doak Hensley Road.
Deputies were responding to an accident at around 12:30 PM on the report of a truck that ran off the road while pulling a trailer. A white GMC Sonoma with a red hood was reportedly spotted backing up against the trailer and attempting to pull it out of the road. A deputy saw a man unhooking the trailer and tried to make contact with him, but the man allegedly got into the passenger side of the GMC and it took off.
The deputy followed the car on Doak Hensley Road. The driver ended up stopping and the suspect allegedly took off into the woods on foot. The driver of the GMC pulled into a driveway some time later. The deputy eventually lost sight of the suspect, who was still running through the woods. When the deputy caught up to the driver parked in the driveway, he had already reportedly fled the scene, leaving behind the vehicle.
K9 Narco and handler Andrew Long began a track but could not locate the suspect. According to the report, deputies could not find identifying information for the suspects during a search of the GMC. There was also no tag. However, the steering wheel and column were reportedly missing. The VIN came up with an Elizabethton, TN address. One possible suspect was named in the report.
