Applications are due on September 15th, 2024 for the Tennessee Valley Authority’s STEM Classroom Grant Program for science, technology, engineering, and math education.
The program is providing $1.5M to fund STEM learning projects in classrooms and schools across TVA’s seven-state service area. It’s sponsored by TVA in partnership with the TVA retiree organization, Bicentennial Volunteers Inc.
Jeff Lyash, TVA President and Chief Executive Officer, said “Through these programs, our future workforce is being prepared right here in the Tennessee Valley. These students will be ready to find innovative solutions to the challenges ahead for decades to come.”
Last year’s program awarded a record $1.5M in grants to schools across seven states. There were 715 grant applications received and 343 were selected for funding. More than 130,000 students in 105 counties representing all of TVA’s seven-state region were impacted by the funding in 2023-2024 cycle.
Teachers can apply at TVA.com/STEM for funding up to $5,000 for STEM projects. Preference is given to applications that align with TVA’s primary area of focus: energy, environmental stewardship, economic development, and career development, and community problem-solving.
Eligible applicants are teachers or school administrators in public or private schools, grades K-12. Schools must be in the TVA service area and receive electricity from a local power distributor served by TVA.
The Tennessee Valley Authority is the nation’s largest public power supplier, delivering energy to 10 million people across seven southeastern states. TVA was established 91 years ago to serve this region and the nation by developing innovative solutions to solve complex challenges.
