Two benefits have been planned for a Greene County business owner who was seriously injured in a mishap involving a hay spear last month.
Jeremy Roberts, owner of Southland Equipment on the Asheville Highway, was injured when a hay spear went through his midsection. The bale spear penetrated Roberts’ abdomen, but fortunately missed any vital organs. Roberts was released from the hospital and returned home August 27, 2024.
There will be a benefit dinner for Roberts on September 14, 2024, in the South Greene High School Cafeteria from 4:00PM to 7:00 PM. The menu includes BBQ, slaw, chips, deserts, and drinks.
Another fundraiser has been planned to help raise funds to defray medical costs. Tammy Knapp Stanton, owner of the Funny Farm in Chuckey, has planned a fundraiser on September 29, 2024. Vendors will be set up and all proceeds will be donated to the Roberts family.
