The Greene County Sheriff’s Office had to utilize one of their K9s to retrieve a suspect on Saturday. The man crawled through a hole in the bedroom floor and managed to get into a crawl space under the residence.
Deputies responded to a home at 19 Summey Reynolds Park around 9 PM on the report of a disturbance. They found the suspect, Winston Summey, outside lying on the ground. When deputies called for him he allegedly jumped up and began running around the house. He reportedly barricaded the front door, locked the back door, and refused to exit the home.
After deputies made entry through the doors, Deputy Ryan Caron and K9 Koa entered the residence to search for the suspect. Koa alerted to a hole that was found in the bedroom floor. The suspect had crawled under the residence.
K9 Koa was sent in to subdue Summey, who reportedly used a pickaxe to strike Koa. Another attempt was made after the axe was retrieved, but Summey got Koa again, this time in the ribs with a metal pipe. Koa was recalled but not before he got his bite in.
After rounds of pepper spray and several commands, Summey finally crawled out from under the home. He was arrested for assault on an officer, resisting arrest, and for a violation of probation warrant.
