A Kingsport man and woman were arrested following a traffic stop by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department around 6:15 PM Saturday.
A deputy saw a motorcycle fail to stop at the intersection of Delzie Randolph Road and Erwin Highway. He initiated a traffic stop and the driver pulled into the Shanks & Shanks Market on Erwin Highway. The driver was identified as Ronnie Atencio and the passenger as Leslie Devotie. Devotie had an active warrant for violation of probation. While the deputy was placing her into custody, she allegedly resisted and had to be taken to the ground.
As the deputy was detaining Devotie, he saw Atencio reach up to the top part of the gas pump. The deputy detained Atencio and retrieved the items off the gas pump, which included a glass pipe, a lighter, and a zipper pouch with two canisters of methamphetamine.
Atencio and Devotie were both charged with the manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of methamphetamine. Devotie was additionally charged with resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search. Atencio was also found to be in possession of marijuana and was charged with possession of a schedule 6 drug, along with possession of drug paraphernalia.
