Texting and walking may have been the cause of a hit and run this morning around 5:40 AM near the West Andrew Johnson Highway and Pruitt Road intersection.
According to the Greeneville Police Department report, a pedestrian identified as Riley A. Branch was walking along the roadway when a vehicle struck him. He reportedly suffered major injuries in the accident and was taken by EMS to the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived. No description of the vehicle was available. The Greeneville Police Department is investigating the hit and run.
