The Greeneville Municipal Planning Commission heard from Planning Administrator Randy Davenport, who reported that Texas Roadhouse is ahead of schedule with its completion at the intersection of U.S. 11E and Harlan Street.
The restaurant gave an anticipated opening date of October 11th. They could still open by the middle of October but will definitely be open by the end of November. Davenport said the construction crew has been working on getting the parking lot completed. The restaurant will be about 9,000 square feet and includes 221 parking spaces.
The developer will receive a temporary certificate of occupancy that will last 45 days, allowing them to bring in staff for training. Davenport said they may also use that time to train employees for service by providing complimentary meals to agencies like the Fire and Police Department.
On the other hand, the traffic signal recommended at the intersection of Serral Drive and 11E, planned to be installed before the restaurant’s opening, has not had any movement. Davenport said no work has begun as of Monday.
There is some concern about traffic congestion near Shops at Greeneville. A proposed traffic signal was supposed to help alleviate some of that traffic. There is currently no word on a timeline for that signal.
