A Johnson City woman was arrested for attempted first-degree murder after driving into Boone Lake with her young child in the vehicle on Saturday.
According to a press release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Kalyna Laraye Young drove into Boone Lake with her two-year-old in the car. Witnesses pulled both Young and the child out of the car shortly before deputies arrived on the scene. Deputies reportedly discovered during the investigation that Young intentionally drove her car into the lake.
Young was transported to the Washington County Detention Center for for attempted first-degree murder, felony reckless endangerment, DUI, and aggravated child abuse and neglect. The child was released to the custody of a family member.
