A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Greene County until 6:00 this afternoon, while a Flood Watch remains in effect until 8:00 this evening.
EMA Director Heather Sipe said that Greene County received more than 2 inches of rainfall in a 45-minute period. Sipe contacted the National Weather Service office and reported the conditions in Greene County, which prompted the issuing of the Flash Flood Warning.
More showers are in the forecast through late this afternoon. Radio Greeneville received several reports this afternoon of flooded roadways around the county. Greeneville, Tusculum and Chuckey received the most rain. Motorists are advised to use caution and not attempt to cross water-covered roadways. College Hills Drive was closed, but has reopened. A tree is also reportedly down across the Kingsport Highway.
The Humane Society has closed early this afternoon as well.
