The Lonesome Pine Trail/Rogersville Road will be closed to thru traffic after an accident this morning.
A flatbed tractor trailer hauling lumber overturned in the 200 block in the sharp turns just past the Vulcan Materials/Summers-Taylor quarry. The load spilled onto part of the roadway and will take some time to clean up.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Roman Brenell of Louisiana, was injured in the wreck, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation has closed the Lonesome Pine Trail at the intersection of 11-E for outbound traffic. Inbound traffic is being stopped at the Lover’s Lane intersection. Passenger vehicles are being allowed to detour onto Lover’s Lane, while larger vehicles and semi trucks will be held on the highway until the wreckage is cleared.
As a result of that detour, Lover’s Lane will be one-way only until the Rogersville Highway is opened. No thru traffic will be allowed to turn onto Lover’s Lane from the Blue Springs Parkway.
EMA Director Heather Sipe said the clean-up will take some time, as the load will have to be removed to avoid damaging the fuel tanks of the semi. The cleanup is expected to take quite some time.
Watch for responders and be cautious in that area. We’ll have more details as they become available.
