A passenger in a vehicle accident Monday morning on the 1600 block of Mount Carmel Road was transported to the hospital with injuries.
The passenger, Ashley Burns, was reportedly nine months pregnant. The accident occurred around 10:30 AM. The Mosheim Police Department responded to the scene and allegedly found Burns lying in the roadway. The driver, Korie Luttrell, said he was traveling southbound when he lost control, causing the car to veer off the side of the road and into a boulder. Once the car made contact with the boulder, it reportedly rolled twice. Luttrell declined medical attention.
Burns appeared to be in physical pain, according to the report. EMS arrived and escorted Burns to the Johnson City Medical Hospital for further evaluation. Highlands Air Rescue was originally requested, but the helicopter could not land because of the weather conditions.
The report states the vehicle’s rear tires appeared to be bald. Officers believe the car lost traction due to slick road conditions.
