Cal Doty won reelection as the Town of Greeneville Mayor in Thursday’s municipal election. Tim Teague was reelected as 2nd Ward Town Council. Political newcomer Matt Hensley beat incumbent Scott Bullington to take the second of two Town Council seats up for election.
Doty won with 60% of the vote, beating former mayor W. T. Daniels 1,154 to 783. Doty beat Daniels in 2022 to win his first term.
Teague led all Town Council candidates with 396 votes, followed by Hensley with 388. Incumbent Scott Bullington lost his reelection bid by 70 votes, garnering 318 total votes. Bullington did win the High School precinct. Jonathan Cave finished with 219 votes, and Peter Higgins with 170.
Total voter turnout was 10.7% countywide. 4,882 total votes were cast, with more than half being cast early and absentee. 2,377 turned out on Election Day, and 2,505 voted early or by absentee.
