The Greeneville Energy Authority board met today and approved a recommendation from their Secretary to grant Dwayne Wells the official title of President and CEO of GEA.
In a previous meeting, Secretary of the board Shane Hite was given authorization to get a contract together for the President, including a salary and benefits. With Hite’s recommendation, he suggested dropping the Interim title for Wells as he believes that Wells has proved himself in the two months he’s been Interim President. Originally, the board decided on a 90-day probation period.
Hite suggested a three-year contract for Wells effective August 1st, 2024. Vice-Chairman Tim Teague made a motion to approve Hite’s recommendation and the suggested salary/benefits. Wells’s contract will be reviewed for approval in GEA’s August meeting. Board member Willie Anderson seconded the motion. Both Teague and Anderson agreed with Hite that Wells has sure enough proved himself in his interim position and have no doubt he will be successful.
