A man reported he had a gun pointed at him during a verbal altercation Thursday.
The victim said he was traveling on the Newport Highway around 11:45 AM and was attempting to make a delivery. As he approached an address in the 3000 block of Newport Highway, he slowed his vehicle and turned on the left turn signal. The victim said within a few moments, a white Chevrolet truck approached his vehicle at a high rate of speed. The truck then locked the brakes and slid off the left side of the roadway into the yard and driveway of the delivery residence.
A verbal altercation then ensued between the two. The suspect allegedly picked up a handgun from inside the truck and pointed it at the victim. The suspect then left the area.
The victim described the man and deputies were able to identify the suspect based on multiple recent involvements with him. The victim confirmed the suspect when deputies showed a DMV photo of him.
The whereabouts of the suspect were unknown at the time of the report and no warrants were issued. Warrant procedures were advised to the victim. The report indicated that the suspect will be questioned about the incident should future contact be made with him.
