Two women were arrested on drug charges early Sunday morning after a traffic stop along the Asheville Highway.
Deputies stopped a vehicle for having a taillight out around 2:00 Sunday morning, and a check of the license of 38-year-old Rachel Fearon of the East Andrew Johnson Highway showed that her license had been suspended. After a K-9 alerted on the vehicle, Fearon admitted that there was meth in the car, which was found along with glass pipes and syringes in a metal container on the driver’s floor board.
A passenger, 32-year-old Amberly Gibson of Kingsport, had an arrest warrant out of Scott County, Virginia and was placed into custody. Prior to a body scan, Gibson admitted to having concealed drugs on her person. A crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine was recovered, and Gibson was charged with possession of meth along with fugitive from justice.
