The Greeneville City School Board of Education met yesterday evening and welcomed Dr. Jason Horne, New Assistant Director of Schools for Administration, Richard Tipton, New Assistant Director of Schools, and Chuck Broyles, the new Chief Technology Officer. It was the first official board meeting for all three in their new positions.
Dr. Horne is replacing Mrs. Beverly Miller who is retiring after serving 30 years as the Chief Technology Officer and the past twelve years as Assistant Director of Schools for Administration. Tipton is replacing Dr. Suzanne Bryant who is retiring after serving as the Assistant Director for Curriculum and Instruction for the past 14 years. Director of Schools Steve Starnes, the board, and staff were sad to say goodbye to Miller and Bryant, who have made a mark in the school system for the better.
The board approved a roof deck replacement project for Highland Elementary School for more than $115,000. They also approved a maintenance van purchase for around $57,000. The vehicle recommended for purchase will replace a 2010 model and is a mid-top van with a ladder rack, interior shelving, material bins, and a steel bulkhead.
Also approved were funds to add a bathroom in the CDC classroom at Eastview Elementary School to better serve students, a Beverage Vending Contract, insurance coverage’s, and several policy revisions.
