The Tennessee State Fair is coming up in August and the Greene County Extension Office is accepting canned items for the fair’s state wide Jams and Jellies Canning Competition.
The contest is open to all Tennessee residents 19 and older. The Extension Office is on 303 Takoma Avenue and will start accepting canned items on July 2nd. You can drop off your items up until August 7th. If you’ve been waiting to get rid of those jams and jellies, now is the time to take advantage! You can win cash money with this statewide contest.
The office will enter your items into the contest and will also transport them to the State Fair. All entries must be entered in clean, standard canning jars (no specialty jars) with new, single use two-piece lids and bands. No decorative overlays or accessories on jars. Exhibits should be canned using tested recipes issued in 2009 or later.
*Items entered will not be returned.* For more information call 423-798-1710.
