One person was flown from the scene of an accident on the Newport Highway Wednesday evening.
The accident happened around 6:20 PM in the 9000 block of the Newport Highway, near the Bright Hope Road intersection. According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a motorcycle driven by 51 year-old Eric Hurley was traveling south on the Newport Highway when it went off the right side of the roadway, struck a stump, and went airborne.
Hurley was reportedly found lying in the roadway. Highlands Air Rescue was called to the scene due to his injuries and he was transported for medical treatment. The Caney Branch Volunteer Fire Department, EMS, Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded.
