A motorcycle accident this morning on Interstate 81 in Greene County resulted in a fatality of a juvenile.
The wreck occurred around 1:40 AM this morning. According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the 16 year-old driver was traveling northbound near mile marker 27.8 when the motorcycle traveled off the left side of the roadway.
The motorcycle reportedly struck a guardrail, throwing the driver off the bike, and continued traveling down the guardrail before hitting the shoulder. It came to a final rest in the median. The identity of the juvenile has not been released.
The Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad, and EMS responded this morning.
