A Greeneville man is facing charges after fleeing from police late Monday night.
A deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department was patrolling on Hermon Circle off 107 Cutoff around 11:45 PM and saw a motorcycle roll through a stop sign then take off at a high rate of speed. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to pull over. The pursuit continued into the city limits until the suspect spun out and laid his bike down after turning onto East Vann Road off of South McKee Street.
The driver was identified as Matthew McLain of Doty Lane. He had a case containing a cut straw and 2 and a half pills identified as Xanax.
McLain was charged with felony evading arrest, reckless driving, possession of a schedule 4 drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a revoked license 3rd offense. He was also cited for violation of a traffic control device for running the stop sign.
