A woman reported a probable scam to police on Friday.
Officers spoke with a woman from Southridge Drive, who reported a man called her and gave his name as Terry Rader. He said the victim had unpaid citations due to missing grand jury on April 20.
The man instructed the victim to get $3500 out of the bank and take it to the coinme machine at Ingles. According to the report, the victim was told if she hung up and went to the Sheriff’s Office instead, as she had requested, that the victim would go to jail due to having an active warrant.
The victim followed the instructions and later another male called her from the same phone number, and stated there was another $2000 unpaid citation, and gave similar instructions.
