A Jonesborough man was arrested after an incident at a Bowmantown Road residence Sunday.
Washington County deputies responded to a domestic assault call in the 900 block of Bowmantown Road Sunday afternoon. Deputies reportedly saw 43-year-old Christopher Spears walking toward the residence with a black object in his hand with a juvenile following him. Due to the severity of the call and prior knowledge of Spears being charged with attempted second-degree murder in 2021, deputies gave commands for him to surrender. He refused and ran inside of the residence. Before deputies reached the porch of the home, Spears emerged. Once Spears was threatened with being tased, deputies placed him into custody.
The victim and witnesses on the scene said there was an argument in which Spears had a pistol and stated he was going to shoot the victim and then himself.
Spears was transported to the Washington County Detention Center for aggravated domestic assault, unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon, and resisting arrest.
