Regulations were placed for Airbnb’s during the Greene County Regional Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday and will be included in the Greene County Zoning Resolution.
There are reportedly over 200 Airbnb’s in Greene County, at least that have been identified. County Building Official Tim Tweed said the county rarely gets a notification regarding the Airbnb business and the locations sometimes don’t meet the expected requirements.
According to a resolution, a revision was added to include a definition on Airbnb’s and what’s permitted. View here: Proposed resolution regulating Airbnb’s
The planning commission also voted to add the definition “Short Term Rental” to the Airbnb regulation and said that Airbnb’s (Short Term Rental) would be subject to hotel/motel taxes with a maximum guest stay of 30 days or less. The resolution will go before the county commission next month for final approval.
The planning commission denied the rezoning of a property on Gap Creek Road from A-1 General Agricultural District to B-1 Neighborhood Business District for a commercial kennel. Property owners were going to provide kenneling for the public as well as boarding and training. The rezoning was denied based off the location and zoning in a residential area and no inspection.
A trucking terminal proposed on Blue Springs Parkway, contingent upon approval of the rezoning on the property according to a representative, was also denied during the meeting. The rezoning was denied based off the fact that residents do live near the proposed site. Tweed said that location is different and the road is not the best option for trucks to be driving onto and off the parkway. The commission denied the resolution for safety reasons.
