National Skilled Nursing Care Week kicked off in Greeneville today with a parade of the residents of the local nursing care facilities.
Residents of Life Care Center of Greeneville, Durham Hensley Nursing Home, Signature Healthcare, and Laughlin Healthcare, along with nurses, administrators, and caregivers of those facilities participated in a walk through Hardin Park Monday morning. The first resident parade was organized in 1989 by Andy Durham of Durham Hensley Nursing Home.
Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison read a proclamation from Greene County and Town of Greeneville.
The parade began at near the Skate Park and ended at the Kiwanis Pavilion with a balloon release. Several residents stayed for lunch provided by their health care facility.
