A Greeneville man was charged with public intoxication after walking away from a wrecked vehicle on Kingsport Highway on Wednesday.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded around 6:00 PM to the 13000 block of Kingsport Highway near Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The suspect, Tyler Ricker of Old Cemetery Road, reportedly walked nearly one mile away from the wrecked vehicle. When questioned, Ricker said he did not know what vehicle the deputy was talking about. After more questions, Ricker said the car was his, but that his friend Tyler was the one actually driving it. Ricker’s story did not make sense, he was unsteady on his feet, and sweating profusely.
He was taken into custody for public intoxication and transported to the Greene County Detention Center.
