A vehicle believed to be that of a woman missing since March was scheduled to be towed this past weekend from an area where it has been stuck since the time of her disappearance.
Multiple hikers had discussed a white van that appeared to be stuck on what they described as a side access trail to the Appalachian Trail near the top of Camp Creek Bald. The van is reportedly the car that Jennifer Elliott called her family to report being stuck on March 22, 2024.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is looking for the woman who has been missing since March 22.
Elliott had reportedly spoken to her mother on Friday, March 22, saying that she was stuck on Viking Mountain and needed a ride. At that time, officers with the Sheriff’s Department found her car and an acquaintance at the car on Viking Mountain Road. The man, identified as Anthony Walton, told deputies that Elliott had run off into the woods. Hikers on the Appalachian Trail also reported having seen a woman matching Elliott’s description, and said that the woman appeared to be trying to hide from them.
Officers were not able to locate her at the time, and she has not been seen or heard from since that date according to the family. Her vehicle was photographed and posted to Facebook with a comment that it was located off the roadway on what appeared to be a connector trail to the Appalachian Trail. Detective Toby Price with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department said that that vehicle was going to be towed by the Forest Service.
Elliott is described as 5’2″ with green eyes, 31-years-old. Anyone with information is asked to call the Greene County Sheriff’s Department at 423-798-1800
