A Greene County man was indicted by the Greene County Grand Jury on Wednesday for evading arrest after a multi-county pursuit in November of 2022 that began in Knoxville and ended in Greene County.
According to the affidavit of complaint, Kurtis Lee Lewis was arrested after a pursuit began in Knox County. Lewis was allegedly clocked driving 114 mph. The pursuit continued into Jefferson County and was joined by the White Pine Police Department. Lewis exited onto 11-E in Greene County where the Greene County Sheriff’s Department was requested to join the pursuit. The vehicle continued toward Blue Springs Parkway and was spiked twice, but Lewis reportedly continued driving into town and onto Main Street, going toward the 11-E.
Lewis eventually wrecked at the intersection of Bolton Road and Kiser Boulevard when got out of the car and fled on foot. A Greene County deputy pursued Lewis on foot and lost sight of him on Kingsport Highway. He was later located and arrested.
