A passenger in a vehicle that wrecked Friday night was charged with public intoxication.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded around 11:45 PM to the wreck in the area of Tusculum Bypass and Edens Road. A white SUV was located off the roadway in a tree line.
A woman identified as Tiffany Norton of North Highland Avenue was sitting in the passenger seat holding a dog. She said a man was driving her vehicle and they had just left a bar. Due to the wreck, Norton’s door had to be forcibly pried open by a deputy in order for her to climb out.
Once Norton was out of the vehicle, she reportedly told deputies not to hurt her dog. She said the man driving took off walking after the wreck. Norton appeared intoxicated and allegedly became aggressive at times, repeatedly asking deputies to not harm her dog.
Norton was taken into custody for public intoxication. There was no information on the driver listed in the report.
