A heat lamp might have been the cause of a fire on the 1500 block of Ripley Island Road Saturday morning.
The Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene around 3:30 AM. A structure was reportedly engulfed in flames near a house upon arrival. According to the report, the victim woke up to find his shed and chicken coop were on fire.
An extension cord was reportedly used going from a house to the chicken coop, which was powering a heat lamp. The shed was destroyed but there was no damage reported to the house. The victim said the shed, which was valued around $150,000, had all his tools stored inside.
Also assisting on the scene were the Newmansville Volunteer Fire Department, Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, Greene County EMS, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, and dispatchers at Greene County 911.
