A wanted man was arrested on Saturday after fleeing from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
A pursuit was initiated around 4:00 PM on a Kia Sorrento driven by 37-year-old Deonte McCracken from an attempted traffic stop on Interstate 81 southbound at the 44 mile marker in Greene County. The pursuit traveled from I-81 to Jearoldstown Road, Smith Mill Road and Kingsport Highway.
At the intersection of Kingsport Highway and Bolton Road, troopers deployed spike strips successfully. After the tires deflated on the Kia, McCracken stopped in the southbound lane of Kingsport Highway and was arrested without incident.
According to the THP report, McCracken had an active felony violation of probation warrant for aggravated assault in another state.
McCracken was transported to the Greene County Detention Center and was charged with felony evading arrest.
