Two people were arrested after attempting to flee from a deputy on Saturday near Sand Bar Road.
A vehicle with switched tags was spotted near Chuckey Pike by a deputy from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver continued and in the process items were reportedly being tossed out the window. The car drove toward the 1700 block of Sand Bar Road and entered a large field before the vehicle came to a final rest on its side near a barn located by the river.
The driver, later identified as Scotty Roberts of Chuckey, allegedly jumped out of the truck and began to run on foot but he was quickly taken to the ground and handcuffed. The passenger, Alysia E. Hartley of Erwin, was found hiding beside the truck in a patch of thickets.
Several items were found during a vehicle search including syringes, Suboxone pills, and a container with one gram of Methamphetamine/Fentanyl. Both suspects reportedly denied the items belonged to them. Both were arrested.
Roberts was reportedly charged for felony evading, felony reckless endangerment, driving on revoked 6th, financial responsibility, violation of registration, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule 2, and possession of schedule 3.
Hartley, who also has a warrant out of Washington County for violation of probation, was reportedly charged for possession of schedule 2, possession of schedule 3, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
