A woman who recently purchased a home in Bulls Gap reported a handyman took money before completing a job.
The victim told the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday that she and her husband purchased a residence on Mohawk Ridge Road and are remodeling it. They hired the suspect to do plumbing and flooring work in the home. He priced the flooring job at $1,800. Once he was done with the plumbing job, they would pay $900 as a down payment for him to start on the flooring job and pay the rest after it was complete.
The victim said $900 was left on an appliance in the living room, but was not to be taken until the plumbing work was complete. The suspect reportedly sent the woman and her husband out on an errand. When they returned, the handyman and the $900 were gone.
The suspect failed to come back to the house to complete the plumbing work and start on the floors. The victims have tried to contact the suspect for the past week, but have not gotten their money back. The suspect also reportedly kept a house key.
Deputies attempted to contact the suspect, but were unsuccessful.
