The Greenville City Council approved a Special Event Request to close down Academy Street for the Depot Street Farmers Market set to begin on May 4th.
The Depot Street Farmers Market began about 8-9 years ago and has become not only a huge success but also an asset to the community. They have around 40 vendors this year with a waiting list and will be ready for everyone to attend beginning the first Saturday in May and each Saturday through the last weekend in October, with exception of the Iris Festival. The Depot Street Farmers Market is set up at the Greene County Partnership on 115 Academy Street.
The street closure will be from 6 AM to 1 PM between the Greeneville Energy Authority entrance and the National Park Service parking lot entrance. The actual event starts at 8 AM and ends at 12 PM. There will be a handicap-size portable toilet and hand washing stations. Visit their website for more information: Depotstreetfarmersmarket.com.
