To our Text Alert members, thank you for following the link. We were overwhelmed by the number of website visitors with our last text of the evening. Literally – the website couldn’t handle the thousands of instant requests. We hope you refreshed and found the information you needed, and we have increased our capacity so that doesn’t happen again.
The good news is the Tornado Watch has been allowed to expire early. The storms were expected to be more severe to our west. And they were. Some storms did produce some possible tornadoes in middle Tennessee and near the Tennessee/Kentucky border.
However, as the storm system had moved east, it has weakened and the tornado watch has ended early for all counties east of Knox and Sevier Counties. Some storms are still possible in those areas, and we do expect some rain overnight, and possibly a rumble of thunder. However, severe weather is not forecast for Greene County at this time.
At this time there are NO CHANGES in school schedules for Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
Our area could still see some heavy rains with the system, with between a half inch and up to 1 1/2″ possible through Wednesday night.
Temperatures will cool significantly at higher elevations Wednesday into Thursday while showers linger until late Thursday night. As a result, expect some light snow accumulations in the mountains during this time.
