An Afton man has been charged with second-degree murder following the shooting death of another man at a home on Old Stage Road.
According to a press release issued this afternoon by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded Thursday around 4:30 PM to a 911 call of a possible shooting at a residence in the 5600 block of Old Stage Road. Upon their arrival, 73-year-old Clarence “Lynn” Devoti was found with an apparent gunshot wound. Deputies attempted CPR on the victim. EMS arrived on the scene and pronounced Devoti dead.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigations Division and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were called to the scene. Following their investigation, 36-year-old William “Justin” Harrison of Highland Park Lane in Afton was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident.
Harrison was taken into custody with a bond of $600,000. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday at 8:30 AM in Greene County General Sessions Court.
