Preston Ronez Moore, the suspect who was arrested in connection with the death of Caitlin Crum gave an Alford plea “best interest plea” during his hearing on Wednesday.
Moore was charged last year in March with Abuse of a Corpse, Tampering with Evidence, and Failure to Report a Death, and was indicated by the Greene County Grand Jury. The charges stem from the death of 20 year-old Crum. On November 7, 2021, officers responded to an abandoned home in the 200 block of West Barton Ridge Road. Crum was found deceased inside. Her cause of death was determined to be an overdose caused by Fentanyl and Methamphetamine intoxication.
An investigation with the Greeneville Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation lead detectives to believe Moore was with the victim at the time of her death, failed to report her death, and left her body in the vacant home.
Moore was given an 8-year sentence during his Plea Hearing. According to his Attorney Brent Hensley, he will be incarcerated for 120 days and then will be released to serve the remainder of his sentence on probation. Hensley did not want to provide further comments on the matter. Details regarding the case are pending court documents.
