A woods fire was contained despite winds over 80 miles per hour thanks to the quick response by local volunteer fire departments.
The Camp Creek, Sunnyside, Tusculum, Cedar Creek, and South Greene Volunteer Fire Departments were called out just before 1:00 AM to Susong Road in the Camp Creek area to the report of a fire in a wooded area. Winds were gusting well over 80 miles per hour at that time.
First responders spent almost an hour working to contain the fire in winds that the fire department said were strong enough to blow a person over and keep it from spreading further into the woods.
