A Greeneville man was arrested Sunday morning after officers responded to a vehicle theft and had to conduct a roadblock during a pursuit.
According to the Greeneville Police Department report, an officer was notified of a vehicle theft at Grandview Avenue. The vehicle driven by Kameron L. Lester was spotted on Tusculum Boulevard when the officer activated his sirens and signaled for a traffic stop. Lester reportedly did not stop and continued onto Cherokee Drive.
A rolling roadblock was conducted during the pursuit to try and stop Lester; spike strips were set up and reportedly deployed successfully, deflating the suspect’s left tires. In the process Lester allegedly swerved a patrol car, made contact with another and left the roadway, went down an embankment about 5 feet, and then into a parking lot on Forest Hills Drive.
The report states he was boxed in at Snapps Ferry Road where he got out and was put on the ground. He allegedly was resisting arrest and tried pulling away from officers but eventually was transported to the Greene County Jail without further incident. He was arrested with charges including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, resisting stop and arrest, and vandalism.
