Former Greeneville High School standout Jakobi Gillespie has announced he will be entering the transfer portal and leaving Belmont University. The 2022 Mr. Basketball winner led the Bruins in scoring in just his second season at the Nashville School. Gillespie averaged 17.2ppg while shooting 56% from the field and 39% from 3pt territory while also collecting 3.8 rebound per game. Gillespie helped the Greeneville basketball program attain the school’s first two state championships in 2021 and 2022. He was twice named the 3A state tournament MVP. Gillespie will have two years of eligibility at his next school.
