According to the National Weather Service, an approaching cold front will bring widespread rainfall and thunderstorms to the region today.
A few strong thunderstorms with high winds are possible across the Cumberland Plateau and southeast Tennessee this morning. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Localized downed trees and power lines may come down with higher wind gusts.
Isolated flooding could also occur across the southern Cumberland Plateau and southeast Tennessee where the highest rainfall amounts are expected. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible as of 9:30 AM.
