One person was flown from an accident on I-81 near the 25 mile marker.
The accident happened when a vehicle reportedly ran into the rear of a tractor trailer that was stopped in traffic. And earlier accident near mile marker 20 had resulted in the traffic backup.
The pickup burst into flames upon impact, but the driver was pulled to safety. He was flown by Highlands Air Rescue for treatment of serious injuries.
Members of the Mosheim and Town of Mosheim Volunteer Fire Departments, EMS, and the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad also responded.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating that accident.
