A Greeneville Energy Authority lineman sustained what was referred to as “significant burns” according to a social media post Saturday. The electrical lineman was responding to a power outage near Rollins Chapel Road Saturday morning, when he came into contact with a 7,200-volt electrical line while working to restore power to the area.
According to the social media post by the Greeneville Energy Authority, the man was initially flown to Johnson City Medical Center but was later transported to a burn center at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
Greeneville Energy Authority reported the worker’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, however, there were significant burns on both of his hands.
