The Greeneville City Council will meet this afternoon and will receive a presentation on the traffic study results by Mattern and Craig Engineers for a section of the 11E.
The study was approved by the City Council in July of 2023 and was requested from the intersection of the Erwin Highway to the intersection of Harlan Street and Morgan Road.
Among other items on the agenda is the consideration to approve a special event request to close Academy Street and portions of College, Summer, and Depot Streets for the 29th Annual Iris Festival. The Festival is scheduled for May 18th and 19th in Downtown Greeneville. There is also a request for Keep Greene Beautiful to host the Iris Festival Walk/Run.
Another special event request to be considered is for portions of Main, Summer, Church, and Depot Streets to be closed for Sundown on Depot, set for May 18th.
A public hearing will be held for consideration of an Ordinance on second and final reading to rezone 21 properties located along West Irish and West Main Street. The properties rezoned will be from M-2 (High Impact Use) to B-4 (Arterial) Business.
Also up for approval is the purchase of wall padding, goal lifts and adjusters, floor curtain and volleyball standards for the Parks & Recreation Department, consideration to utilize remaining hotel/motel funds to complete a paving project at the beach volleyball complex, and the purchase of brick materials for sidewalk construction.
The meeting will be held at 4 PM at the Greeneville Energy Authority Building located on North College Street.
