An ATM was destroyed Sunday at a bank on the Asheville Highway but no money appeared to have been stolen, according to the Greeneville Police Department.
Officers responded after 3 AM to Greeneville Federal Bank on the report of an ATM that was broken into. The report states the complainant saw a white truck with two males, who were hooking up a chain to the ATM. The truck was later found abandoned at Food City, near East Vann Road.
During the investigation, an officer stopped a truck near the scene with two people who said they saw the suspects. They stated they saw two males in black masks jump out of the white truck and into a white car and drive away. No suspects were known at the time of the report.
