A shoplifting incident was reported at Lowe’s on East Andrew Johnson Highway on Wednesday.
An employee told the Greeneville Police Department an unknown male entered the store and made a refund for a speaker box. After getting the cash refund, the suspect put a $140 pair of boots on and started walking through the store. The suspect then selected a 12,000-pound winch and took it to the self checkout. The man paid for the winch, but not the boots on his feet.
The suspect reportedly asked the self checkout associate the location of the bathroom and asked to leave his paid for items near the front door. The man then walked toward the restroom and selected another identical winch. He then pushed that winch out the main entrance without paying and put it in his vehicle. He then returned inside through the exit door, got the original winch, and took it out to the vehicle as well.
The suspect got away with around $540 worth of merchandise.
