A Whitehouse Road woman was charged Monday with simple assault of an officer after police responded to a North Highland Avenue residence.
The Greeneville Police Department responded to the scene around 10:30 AM to check on Katie Tarlton. The complainant said Tarlton was talking incoherently and causing a scene.
When officers arrived, Tarlton was reportedly talking to people who were not there and appeared to be under the influence. While officers were preparing to take her into custody, Tarlton thought one officer was searching her and allegedly kneed him in the groin.
Tarlton was charged with simple assault of a law enforcement officer and public intoxication.
